Singapore’s Minister for Health, Mr. Ngan Kim Yong, and Minister for Education and Second Minister for Finance, Mr Wong Choon Choy, who jointly lead the interdepartmental working group on the fight against the disease, announced at a press conference on 4 May that
From May 8 to May 30, Singapore will temporarily return to the second phase of the post-coronary disease decontrol period. Specifically, the stricter preventive measures are as follows:
1. The number of people in the congregation will be reduced from a maximum of 8 to 5 from 8 May. The number of visitors a household can receive per day has also been tightened to a maximum of 5.
In addition to this, a maximum of 2 social gatherings per person per day will be allowed, including visits to friends and relatives at home and parties away from home.
2. from 8 May, the total number of employees returning to their workplace at any one time will be reduced from the current 75% to less than 50%.
3. From 11:59 pm on 7 May, all passengers entering from the UK, South Africa, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be required to fulfil a 21-day home notice at designated facilities, no longer 14 days.
Arrivals from the Pacific Island countries of Fiji and Vietnam (no other country or territory visited in the last 21 days): 21 days quarantine at designated sites or 14 days quarantine at designated sites + 7 days home quarantine. Entry from Australia, Brunei, Mainland China, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau: no extended home quarantine required. All persons fulfilling the 21-day home quarantine must be tested for nucleic acid upon entry, on the 14th day of home quarantine, and before the end of quarantine.
4. From 17 May onwards, members of the public can only register for SafeEntry using the Trace Together app or token when visiting places with high pedestrian traffic or prolonged close contact with others. This is two weeks earlier than the Government’s original implementation date of 1 June.
5. From 8 to 30 May, all indoor gyms across the island will be closed. However, outdoor gym activities can continue, but only with a maximum of 30 participants and at a safe distance of, for example, 5 people in groups of at least 3 meters each.
6. Fixed classroom seating arrangements will be made in schools, the limit for group activities will be reduced from 8 to 5, the overall maximum number of participants for other activities such as lecture halls will be limited to 50, and activities in public spaces will be suspended.
7. The DSA, which opens for registration and selection from 5 May, will be available online. Early Admission events for the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Faculty of Technology and Education will be conducted mainly online.
8. The number of people for large events is limited as follows:
– Places of worship: more than 100 people must be nucleic acid tested prior to the event, up to a maximum of 250 people, and participants may not sing.
– Weddings: more than 50 people must be nucleic acid tested prior to the event, up to a maximum of 250 people.
– Funeral/Cremation ceremonies: maximum of 30 participants, no more than 30 people at a time for funeral visits.
– Sporting events: large group events are suspended and spectators are not allowed to attend other sporting events.
– Live performances, commercial events, cinemas, etc.: over 100 people must be nucleic acid tested prior to the event, up to a maximum of 250 people.
The number limit for all the above events also includes people who have already been vaccinated, but they do not need to take another nucleic acid test, they just need to show the relevant supporting documents.
In addition, the patronage limit for museums and public libraries will be reduced from 65% to 50% and the tour group size limit from 50 to 20.
