The annual National Day in Singapore is on August 9th, commemorating Singapore’s independence from Malaysia in 1965. The 2024 National Day theme is ‘Together, As One United People”.
1.The Singapore 2024 National Day Parade
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Total Defence. The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Singapore Police Force (SPF), and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will join forces for the first time to present a spectacular defence performance at The Padang in front of the Government Building!
2. Singapore Air Force Island Flypast
During the “Fly Our Flag” segment, from 5:45 PM to 6:30 PM on August 9, two CH-47SD/F heavy lift helicopters will fly over Singapore’s various communities carrying the national flag, escorted by two Apache helicopters along east and west routes
On the evening of August 9, from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM, six F-16 fighter jets will perform a flypast. Residents in areas such as Clementi, Jurong West, Chai Chee, Bukit Batok, Woodlands, Toa Payoh, Sembawang, Punggol, and Minden will have the opportunity to witness their display.

Want to see fireworks for free? Don’t miss these viewing spots! However, as National Day can get quite crowded, it’s recommended to arrive early and plan your exit strategy in advance.
